Standard Brands Limited was incorporated in Canada in 1929,and continued in 1979. The company changed its name to Nabisco Brands Ltd in 1982. Major shareholder Nabisco Brands Investments Ltd. purchased 3,955,000 of the 4,000,000 common shares that it did not already own in 1988. Subsequently, Nabisco Brands Investments Ltd. exercised its right to acquire the remainder. The company changed its name to Nabisco Ltd. in 1995.
